Ashley McNamee bolts WEEK for new job in Denver

Well, you knew THIS was coming:

And I agree with other posters on Facebook. The quality of the news on WEEK is rapidly declining with canned pieces actually leading off newscasts, while competitor WMBD 31 actually has live reporters doing real stories about the community.

It pains me to sat this, because I have friends who work at WEEK.

I trace this decline to McNamee being shunted to the 10 p.m newscast. Our loss is Denver’s gain.

Marshanna Hester bolting WEEK/WHOI for Milwaukee, and is Ashley McNamee coming back?

Wasn’t Marshanna Hester being tapped by WEEK management to replace Ashley McNamee in the hearts and minds of WEEK viewers or at least as co-anchor at the afternoon  broadcast)?

From Facebook:

Thank you so much for your support and encouragement over the last two years. The time has now come for me to move on. I’ve accepted a new job in Milwaukee and am taking lots of fond memories of Peoria with me, thanks to you.

My last day on the air is today, but I’ve got a couple of stories that will run after I’m gone. So again, thank you for everything 🙂

It would serve these Nimrods right if Ashley was the next one to bolt, leaving the station high and dry. But then, Peoria would lose.

Does Ashley McNamee have a steady gig with WEEK/WHOI or not?

ashleyHere is her Facebook update:

Anchoring the 5:30 and 10 on WHOI. I hope you’ll watch!

She says in the comment section that this is a temporary placement, and that she’s be back at WEEK at 10 p.m. Soon. Which is exactly where she was when I started posting about how her negotiations failed with WEEK higher-ups failed. I’ve asked Ashley for a personal update.I’ll keep you posted.

Ashley McNamee doesn’t want to leave WEEK, source says

I took a comment from someone who claimed to have intimate knowledge of the Ashley McNamee situation at WEEK. The comment-maker completely contradicted a comment from “producerguy19” who said that Ashley is  “looking to move on to a larger market.” This recent comment maker said that  Ashley had expressed no interest in leaving WEEK and that this is absolutely a contract dispute. The comment maker suggested that “producerguy19” probably works for WEEK management. Meanwhile, Ashley remains working on the 10 p.m. newscast and is nowhere to be seen at 5 or 6 p.m. And I’ll add this: I have absolutely no problem with Marshanna Hester, who replaced Ashley as anchor and co-anchor.
