Sheridan Road fully reopens Thursday

Press release:

eye_on_traffic(Peoria) – Public Works announces Sheridan Road, between Main Street and McClure Avenue, will fully reopen Thursday, December 8th for the winter months.

Two improvement projects have been ongoing this year, with the Sheridan Road roadway project having been completed between Eleanor and Brons.  This new section includes one travel lane in each direction and a bi-directional center turn lane, as well as bike paths and sidewalks.  The road will again be closed next spring, as the project’s construction continues between Brons and McClure, as well as the McClure Avenue and Sheridan Road intersection reconstruction.

The Sheridan Road Bridge, between the I-74 overpass and Gale, will also reopen for the winter months.  Work for the replacement of the Sheridan Bridge will also resume again in the spring of 2017, causing its closure.  Wet weather conditions during October delayed the bridge project, making the spring closure necessary to finalize the project.

Please contact the City of Peoria’s Project Engineer, Andrea Klopfenstein, if you have questions regarding these projects.

Motorists are urged to use extreme caution in construction zones.  Public Works appreciates the public’s patience as we make these important infrastructure improvements.  For more information, contact the Office of the City Engineer at (309) 494-8800.
